First Blog
Hi my name is Brooke Gilbert, and I am 18 years old. I live in Sand Point, Alaska, which is an island on the Aleutian Chain. In my free time I enjoy hanging out with my friends and family. I graduated from King Cove School in May of 2024, I attended UAF in person for my first semester. I decided to do online classes instead because the weather in Fairbanks was too cold for me.
Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh is a work of art I find appealing. https://havenlight.com/products/ch1008788-meta My relationship with art is kind of off and on, I don't do a whole lot with it myself. I got paints and canvases as a present and I did paint sometimes, but I don't really do that anymore. I also color sometimes, which I don't know if that counts, but I do that sometimes too. I don't own any art pieces and I don't attend anything to do with art.
Good luck at UAF Brooke :)
ReplyDeleteI had a friend whose grandmother was the principal at King Cove. She has since passed. While you are at UAF, visit the Museum of the North. The art upstairs is really fun.
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you, Brooke! Van Gogh was a phenomenal artist, I agree that his work is appealing. I LOVE coloring and have recently purchased a coloring book from the brand "Coco Wyo," which is super cute and relaxing.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday! We have several things in common. I love the Starry Night. The painting seems so simple but is so captivating. I saw multiple works of art by Van Gogh while I was in Europe, and they are even more amazing in person. I agree with the weather! I moved to Barrow, Alaska in 1984 and then moved to Fairbanks in 1997. My husband and I are thinking about snow birding when we both retire. I don’t think I could completely leave Alaska because we have so much family in the state. I’m looking forward to reading more of your posts throughout the semester!
ReplyDeleteI don't blame you about Fairbanks weather, It's something serious! I'm also not as involved with the arts, but I love to be creative and make art so that is something I've been trying to fix. Can't wait to see what you share this semester!
